Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring

Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring
Bom yeoreum gaeul gyeoul geurigo bom

In the midst of the Korean wilderness, a Buddhist master patiently raises a young boy to grow up in wisdom and compassion, through experience and endless exercises. Once the pupil discovers his sexual lust, he seems lost to contemplative life and follows his first love, but soon fails to adapt to the modern world, gets in jail for a crime of passion and returns to the master in search of spiritual redemption and reconciliation with karma, at a high price of physical catharsis
A movie that lets you see through a lifetime of a person his innocence, pain, love, anger, reconciliation and rejuvenation. One of the movies which goes deep into your minds, and questions about your deeds, the things you do and the implications it has on others, even the tiny slightest things and its impacts. A movie not to be missed in a lifetime

Ag-o

Violent thug Crocodile lives under a bridge by the Han River in Seoul together with a peddling boy and a homeless old man. Yet, for some reason the woman, betrayed by her lover, stays with Crocodile, and a peculiar family-like friendship forms between the four homeless people. The story revolving around the old man and the little boy also adds up to the pace of the movie who doesn’t bring a lag in this slow paced art by Kim Ki-duk

Movie can be termed as a rather dark one leading to non-violent sadistic events ruining a girl’s life after she insults him for his behaviour.

THE BOW (Hwal)

THE BOW
Hwal

A sixty and something year old captain has been raising for ten years a girl since she was six in his old fishing vessel that is permanently anchored offshore with the intention of marrying her on her seventeenth birthday. He survives bringing fishermen to fish in the vessel and predicting the future using his bow and shooting arrows in a Buddhist painting on the hull of the vessel while the girl moves back and forth in a swing. He also uses the bow and arrows to protect the girl against sexual assault of the fishermen. They live happily until the day that a teenage student comes to the ship and the girl feels attracted for him. When the teenager discovers that the girl was abducted when she was six and does not know the world, he returns to the vessel to bring the girl back to her parents.
A movie to watch when you have nothing else much to do, some weirder moments building up to a rather unconvincing climax and unexplainable love between the girl and her guardian. Some may say it a disappointing attempt by Kim Ki duk.
